Magpie Books

Magpie Books is an Indigenous co-owned independent bookstore prioritizing 2S, queer and trans, and BIPOC authors and books in amiskwacîwâskihikan. Magpie Books’ curation focuses on topics of care, liberation, and grassroots movements.

Magpie Books is a small, independent bookstore in the neighbourhood of Ritchie in amiskwacîwâskihikan. Our curation prioritises literature written by Indigenous, Black, racialized, and queer and trans authors. We carry fiction, nonfiction, books for young readers, cookbooks and more! A small but mighty space, perfect for browsing and finding some hidden gems.

We are modelled structurally as a workers co-operative; employees and shareholders make the same hourly wage, and decisions are made collectively.

We value community care and mutual aid. Bookseller owned and operated.

We feel blessed to work and live in and with the prairies.
