Porch Light Books

Porch Light Books is a used and new bookshop on the corner of 99 Street in Mill Creek/Old Strathcona especially interested in literary fiction, arts and culture, nature, travel, books about books, vintage paperbacks, small presses, books in translation, box sets, and unusual editions of all stripes.

Porch Light Books is a used and new bookshop in Edmonton, Alberta.

Founded in 2020 by author and publisher Michael Hingston as an online store based out of a single overstuffed shelf in his office, Porch Light expanded to become a brick-and-mortar shop in 2024. We’re especially interested in literary fiction, arts and culture, nature, history, books about books, vintage paperbacks, small presses, box sets, and unusual editions of all stripes.

Most of our stock is used, with a premium on quality and condition (in other words, our used books look pretty darn new).

We also have a curated selection of actually new titles—and a table of rotating remainders, too.

Whatever your preferred format, condition, or price point, our goal is to get good books into your hands. If that leads to a lifetime of reading, collecting, and all-around bibliomania, well, whoops!

Porch Light’s name comes from a piece of local history popularized by Tony Cashman.

Come visit us in person at 9867 89 Avenue NW (on the corner of 99 Street in Mill Creek/Old Strathcona), or on Instagram @porchlightbooksyeg.
